For the past couple of months, we’ve been working on something big. A platform update so substantial that, somewhere along the way, we realized the old name just didn’t fit anymore. Today, we’re thrilled to introduce not only a major new release — but also a new identity. NoVPS is now Granite.
Why the change?
While building this update, we spoke to a lot of developers. Again and again, we heard that the old name didn’t capture what the platform had become. In some cases, it was even a little misleading. We knew it was time for a name that reflects the solid, dependable, and versatile foundation we provide — something strong, reliable, and built to handle whatever you throw at it. That’s Granite.
What’s new under the hood?
This release is one of our largest yet. A major focus has been reworking and optimizing the control panel. It’s now faster, more stable, and simply smoother to use — small details that make a big difference in the day-to-day experience of managing your projects.
We’ve also expanded your database options. Granite now supports two fully managed databases:
- MySQL — the trusted workhorse you already know.
- NoVPS Document (Granite Document in future) — a MongoDB-compatible NoSQL database built on top of FerretDB. It offers strong compatibility with MongoDB, so in most projects it works as a drop-in replacement with zero changes to your code.
This means you can now choose the right tool for the job without leaving the platform — and without sacrificing performance or reliability.
What stays the same?
Our commitment to providing a solid, developer-friendly platform hasn’t changed. If anything, it’s only grown stronger. The same team, the same mission — just a better experience and a name we feel truly represents what we do.
